As I stated in my previous post

While my passion is design and helping others communicate who they are through print and web media, now I am also a mom. Since I work from home, I am able to spend lots of time with my little one and focus on my career. Total best of both worlds.

I am hoping to share with you some mom tips and design tips and maybe some other stuff in between.

So first on my list is all about diapers and what I find most useful when changing diapers

  • Bum Brush

Bum brush is a must. And I suggest one for home and 1 for diaper bag with holder.  You can get these on Amazon or at Target.

  • Diaper Rash Cream

Diaper rash cream. We use A+D Original Diaper Rash Ointment, Skin Protectant With Lanolin and Petrolatum at every diaper change.  Tub size is better than tubes for home.

When baby’s bottom gets red, use the max strength white past diaper rash cream for diaper rash since it has the zinc oxide in it.  Desitin Maximum Strength Baby Diaper Rash Cream with 40% Zinc Oxide, is a good option.

  • Baby Wipes

Get a one handed baby wipe dispenser.  They make life easier, while you are trying to hold a wiggly kiddo with the other hand.  OXO Tot Perfect Pull Wipes Dispenser, is nice because it holds a lot of wipes.  Trust me, you will go through a lot of wipes!

I do not recommend getting a wipes warmer, not because I am a cruel mom, but more for practicality sake.  If baby is used to nice warm wipes at home, changing a diaper while you are out, will be a nightmare with cold wipes.

Baby wipes.  Gets tons of baby wipes.  Target has the best price.  In 3.5 mo we have gone through also 2000 wipes.

  • Diapers

Diapers Bulk Plus Pack - Up&Up™ - image 1 of 1Diapers.  Get the store brand Target or Walmart diapers.  Especially in the beginning, you go through a lot each day.  We went through about 450 newborn diapers and have already gone through about 300 size 1 diapers at 3.5 mo.  Granted we might change our kiddo little more often than most but also don’t want diaper rash.  By size 2 u may want to have some 12 hr diapers just for at night but store brand ok during the day I would assume. If someone offers to throw u a diaper party go for it.  Extremely helpful.

Waterproof mattress pads for crib and pack and play. It is better to get the toddler mattress pads. They are smaller but more versatile than crib ones. Can use in pack n play and crib and once you start potty training.

Changing pad covers. Cute changing pad covers are useless even if you do have several of them you will be washing them all the time. Best thing is the disposable changing mats. We put the disposable mat on the vinyl soft changing pad and put him on top. Mats made to be used as dental bibs work pretty well since they are water proof and are cheaper.

These are the ones I bought but are not the most durable.

Changing pad. Just an fyi… if you decide to change baby on another surface say floor or bed you will at some point have to wash carpet or bed linen because there will be pee and or poop on it. Lol.

Diaper genie. I am not sure about this one since I do not have one but read they are not worth it.  We just have a regular garbage can with lid – need lid – and change every few days unless really smells. We just use regular size bags and keep the roll in the bottom of the can.  Foot pedal also a must since your hands will be yucky.

Diaper trash bags for on the go.  These are handy for diaper bag when you don’t have a place to throw diaper away real quick.

Cheap value packs of wash clothes from like dollar general are also helpful for cleaning up and drying up messes on changing table.
